*Joyce Ivy Gender Policy
The Joyce Ivy Foundation is committed to the academic advancement and leadership development of young women from the Midwest. In recognition of our changing world and evolving understanding of gender identity, the Joyce Ivy Foundation will consider for the Summer Scholars program any applicant who identifies as female and feels they would benefit from joining a community of empowered women, regardless of the gender assigned to them at birth. Students assigned female at birth who now identify as male are not eligible to apply. Our gender policy does not affect the network and support offered to our growing alumnae base – once a member of the Joyce Ivy community, always a member of the Joyce Ivy community, regardless of gender identity. Please feel free to reach out to info@joyceivyfoundation.org with any questions.
Start the Process!
Step 1. Make sure that the summer program you are interested in attending is a Joyce Ivy Foundation partner and listed among our supported programs. We do not provide scholarships for all programs at partner institutions; for example, a 1-week program is not eligible.
Step 2. Complete the Joyce Ivy application and essays online here. Complete applications must be received by the deadline.
Step 2.5. At the same time as you are completing your Joyce Ivy application, you should also be applying to the summer program(s) of your choice for admission and financial aid (except for Brown). Check with the programs for important deadlines and requirements. If you are applying to Brown, you do not need to apply for financial aid. Make sure you identify yourself as a Joyce Ivy applicant on your summer program applications. Many programs also offer application fee waivers if you are a Joyce Ivy applicant, so make sure to reach out to directly to the program if you need one.
Step 3. Once you submit your Joyce Ivy application, you will receive a confirmation email with a hyperlink for submitting additional documents and materials. Save this e-mail and link. You will use this link to submit tax returns, test scores, and copies of summer program financial aid applications.
Step 4. Forward the confirmation email and link from the Joyce Ivy Foundation to your counselor and ask him or her to submit your letter of recommendation and transcript using the link. If it is not possible for your counselor to submit these pieces of your application via the link, he or she may submit them via fax (734 661 0229) or email (info@joyceivyfoundation.org)
